Cemtech London: 28th September - 1st October 2008
Cemtech Conferences and Exhibitions returned to London in late September 2008 to
mark its 20th year of a successful working partnership with the global cement
sector. Held at the prestigious Landmark Hotel, close to the heart of London,
the three-day event enlightened delegates on recent industry activity under the
theme of ’Cement manufacture in a changing world’ and offered Cemtech’s renowned
hospitality plus a plant visit to Cemex’s Rugby works.
A programme packed with informative presentations was highlighted by an in depth
look at the current challenges facing the ’Big Six’ global cement producers.
Proceedings then moved on to discuss what impact the new megacities will have on
cement production, the trading of carbon credits and opportunities for cement
manufacturers with the Clean Development Mechanism Scheme.
Delegates were also treated to papers on the latest projects with updates on
Arabian Cement Company’s entry into the Egyptian cement market, an overview of
the Russian cement industry , plus a leap into the new world markets of the
Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Conference was supported by an adjoining exhibition with stands from many of
the leading equipment suppliers to the cement industry along with a two-day
spouse programme that toured the major attractions of London with guided tours
of Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London as well as a private tour of
Windsor Castle with lunch at the magnificent Cliveden Hotel.
With the hosting of the Gala Dinner on the final evening, held in the ornate
Grand Ballroom of the Landmark Hotel, Cemtech London marked the end of yet
another successful Conference and Exhibition with a spectacular evening of
enjoyable music, dance and entertainment.
Thanks to all those who attended our meeting and who helped to made this another
very memorable Cemtech event.
